Showcasing America’s growers and crops by processing and selling flax, hemp and borage.
Four Generation Farmers
Farming is in our blood. Our grandfather came from Norway, settling in rural Carrington, North Dakota. He had 15 children with our dad being number 12 of 15 children. Our dad farmed many crops and taught us the value of loving the land and appreciating the people in the state. Roger, our owner and president, started farming in 1979. Brock, our late co-founder, is the fourth generation farmer who started farming in 2004. Both Roger and Brock developed a value-added oil processing plant in 2002. Roger’s knowledge of good agricultural practices, processing and exporting is a valuable asset to our growers and ingredient customers all over the world. Today, Healthy Oilseeds is a licensed and bonded grain buyer that contracts with North Dakota farmers. We are committed to showcasing North Dakota’s flax, hemp, and borage to a wide variety of companies all over the world.
Brock Gussiaas, our co-founder, tragically died at the age of 28 in 2014 of a rare virus. He was a remarkable individual, making a positive impact on everyone he met. When asked how he was doing, Brock would often say, “I’m living the dream”. He met people all over the world, connecting them to our state of North Dakota and Healthy Oilseeds. We are inspired to live life the way Brock did. We honor Brock’s legacy through continuing Healthy Oilseeds, the company he helped start.
